Job Description
METRO’s Group strategy team:
Working within METRO’s Group strategy team, you will play an integral role in shaping the future potential & competitiveness of our company. We are searching for those analytical minds and deep thinkers who want to create an impact in a role where you not only conceptualize and advise a company, but you support operational implementation the strategy in the design of which you have a central role.
What does this mean? Our strategy team has developed the sCore Group Strategy, which is also well appreciated by our shareholders in general. In addition, we not only designed the process to cascade down the METRO Group strategy into local strategies. We also closely accompanied the countries in developing their transformation initiatives to bring the sCore strategy into life. We work in close collaboration both with countries and central functions and service companies to contribute to a successful strategy execution. We are at the forefront to identify new innovative business opportunities and models.
Your tasks:
- Strategy: As an Expert in METRO’s global strategy team, you will contribute to the successful execution of the sCore strategy.
- Projects: You will work on top priority projects commissioned by the senior management. In this context you will regularly carry out analyses and develop quantitative modeling, as well as more qualitative tools, to effectively support the decision-making process.
- Expertise: As a deep understanding of market and competition are requisite, you are responsible for gathering, analyzing and summarizing market & competitive intelligence, leveraging third party research and industry data, as well as internal data.
- Knowledge: To be effective in this, it is important that you continuously maintain an ongoing understanding of trends regarding market, competition, and products as well as emerging macro environment considerations.
- Presentation: It is important that beyond conceptualization, you can professionally present your findings to the relevant stakeholders (cross functionally, senior decision makers, internal & external).
Qualifications
Your profile:
- Mindset: We are looking for smart and sharp minds who feel at ease conducting research and can synthesize to the point conclusions from large volumes of information from a broad variety of data sources. You should be able to convert data into insights to support METRO’s strategic initiatives and beyond analysis, we want you to be able to identify and propose solutions on your projects.
- Experience: Ideally you would bring at least 3 years of professional experience and knowledge of the global food wholesale / retail industry landscape or relevant industry segments (e.g., FMCG) in addition to a relevant completed university degree. Experience in consulting or strategic departments of corporations can be a clear advantage.
- General skills: You should have at your disposal the strategy toolkit of effective data mining, quantitative & qualitative analysis, experience developing business plans, a bespoke problem-solving attitude and creativity. You should also be highly comfortable in terms of presenting data both verbally and visually as well as articulately both in German and English.
- Digital skills: For the sake of completeness, we would like to point out that advanced skills in MS Excel and MS Power Point are a prerequisite.
- Personality: Personally, you will have a strong intellect, possess an ownership mentality, build relationships with ease & effectiveness and enjoy high pressure, roll your sleeves up kind of working, whilst having fun working in an international work environment!
