Building, developing and enabling high performing teams who build awesome products is the main responsibility for the Head of Engineering in our Fullfillment.
As a Head of Engineering joining our team, you will initially focus on hands-on technical tasks like an individual contributor allowing you to gain a deep understanding of our infrastructure and systems so that you know the code inside and out before adding managerial responsibilities to your plate. This approach enables you to understand the technical challenges your team encounters deeply, setting you and the team up for future wins.

Tasks

• You are passionate about software development, but you enjoy building the right teams, removing roadblocks, creating alignment, and driving transparency just as much

• You lead and support the engineers/managers of up to five product teams in a you-build-it-you-run-it environment

• You contribute hands-on part of your time to stay close to the technology

• You help our engineers grow personally and professionally by advancing their skills and inspiring them with purpose

• You ensure we leverage (new) technologies to build products customers love and that deliver business value

• You take responsibility for product delivery while balancing time, budget, and quality

• You contribute to cross-team strategic initiatives such as raising the engineering bar, improving guidelines, and defining how we work as an organization

Profile

Your profile – this is what we expect from you

• You have vast experience working in cross-functional product teams and building scalable web applications

• You are an experienced (Senior) Engineering Manager who solves problems with tools and frameworks that make sense for both the problem domain and the organization; familiarity with PHP and JavaScript, our main tech stack, and hands-on experience with them is a plus

• You bring a strong sense of ownership, passion, and drive that energizes those around you

• You communicate clearly and effectively, especially in a remote-first setup

• You have a strong background in engineering management and the drive to keep growing in the role of Head of Product Engineering

• You are a natural go-to person within your organization who helps engineers grow, succeed, and thrive

• You go the extra mile for your team’s success, giving honest feedback, engaging in discussions, and following through on commitments

• You are fluent in English (C1) and enjoy working in an international environment
